Small Capacity Pumps
A very broad range of small capacity pumps are manufactured by Smith for flow rates between 5 to 15 gallons per minute. All flow rates depend on the motor drive speed which is determined largely by the duty cycle. Pumps for intermittent duty can be driven at the maximum rated shaft speed while those for continuous duty or long on-times can be driven at slower motor speeds.
All Smith small capacity pumps are equipped with an internal bypass relief valve. The internal bypass relief valve used for the E-series pumps can also be used to direct flow back to the supply tank.
Pumps such as the E-series, D-series, and MC-1/GC-1 series are generally recommended for LP-GAS transfer. Please Download Catalogue CP-3. For individual pump specification sheets, please visit our catalogues page.
Pumps such as the SQ-series are generally recommended for other liquefied gases and liquids. Please Download Catalogue CP-1A.
Medium Capacity Pumps
For 20 to 100 gallons per minute, six basic pump models are offered with various porting configurations. Pumps can be ordered with threaded connections or flanges. “H” model pumps over 35 GPM capacity are recommended for 50 Hz applications where the maximum drive speed is 1500 RPM instead of 1800 RPM, 60 Hz applications.
All medium capacity pumps are designed to be directly connected to an electric motor via a flexible drive coupling. We can provide the pump, pump on base with flexible drive coupling (suitable for mounting to a customer supplied motor), or the pump, flexible drive coupling, motor, and base fully assembled.

Large Capacity Pumps
For transfer rates exceeding 100 gallons per minute, four basic pump models from 150 to 250 gallons per minute are offered. Pumps can be ordered with threaded connections or flanges. “H” model pumps are recommended for 50 Hz applications where the maximum drive speed is 1500 RPM instead of 1800 RPM, 60 Hz applications.
All large capacity pumps are designed to be directly connected to an electric motor via a flexible drive coupling.

Truck Pumps
A wide range of truck pumps are manufactured by Smith, from 35 to 100 gallons per minute, designed to be operated from a power take-off, electric motor, or engine. Maximum shaft speeds vary by pump model number. Most pump models are offered in flanged versions. All truck pumps utilize Smith’s unique balanced design feature and can be upgraded with heavy duty options as described in our catalogues.
